18 Days Old
Written By Adele
It’s been five days since they fledged.
I go out every day (actually, multiple times a day) to feed the parents who in turn feed the young. I follow where they are taking the food to see if I can locate each fledgling. Sometimes the parents go to just one of them and I’m not sure whether something happened to the other one. Then later, or the next day I will notice each parent going to a different fledgling. I will sometimes find them on the ground, other times very high up in a tree.
They found each other today, possibly for the first time since they left the nest. You notice one of them spread out his/her wings initially when it approached the other.
After this reunion they again separated from each other.
